Tangerine

David Mead's "Tangerine" has some sweet spots intermixed with same sounding vocals and atypical instruments. The title track begins with a numbing, "AHHH!" and interjects oddball equipment like orchestra bells. "Hard To Remember," has lines like, "I'm trapped in the orbit of your rolling eyes," and is one of the more sad songs on the album. "The Trouble With Henry" has downtrodden lyrics and could be a song in a movie about a young boy aspiring to find himself albeit unsuccessfully.

Many of the tracks sound similar and prattle on, but the in-depth lyrics could make listeners shy away from that fact. "Chatterbox," does just what the title suggests, it "chatters" on but the tempo is nice. "Recorded # 1," sounds like the beginning of a record playing on a victrola. "Hunting Season," is a sleepy track that doesn't gel with the song's title. "Fighting For Your Life," has Mead's guitar strength and adds some much needed gusto to the album which can get burdensome at times.

Despite the limited vocal range of Mead, the instruments such as the ukulele and the Hammond Organ, which are employed, give each track a unique flavor not to be missed by any music enthusiast. If you like hearing unconventional apparatus and are willing to sift through some dismal songs, then, "Tangerine" is a sweet CD for you.
