Tanya Tucker's 'Merry Christmas Wherever You Are'

Tanya Tucker’s new Christmas song couldn’t be better, let alone more timely.

The lyrics of “Merry Christmas Wherever You Are” can only be described as uplifting, like the lyrics of all classic Christmas songs. The song can also be interpreted as a love song since it refers to being separated from a loved one. It is now digitally available.

Ironically, the song, written by Mack Vickery and Jerry Laseter, was in Tucker’s proverbial drawer for a while.

“I had this song for quite a while, probably 10 or 11 years," she said. "I've always wanted to release it, and this is the year."

One motivation for releasing the song at this time is Tucker’s pride in American military personnel currently overseas, as well as other problems the country currently faces.

"With so many troops deployed overseas and with the economy being such that people are having to relocate to find work, recording this track was a very personal and emotional experience. Also, when I recorded that vocal, I was thinking of all the parents who had missing children and all the children who no longer had a parent to share this very special time."

Tucker also revealed that she plans to put together a Christmas album next year. If this song is any indication, that album is sure to be one of her finest accomplishments.
