Big band instruments are the order of the day on Lionel Hampton featuring Sylvia Bennett's "There Will Never Be Another You." "Just One Of Those Things" has an old-time panache. The title track introduces Sylvia Bennett's praiseworthy voice and xylophone work. "Cookin' In The Kitchen aka Jumpin' At The Mudhole" is a buoyant piece and can make you get up and get down. "Sweet Man Of Mine" is a prototypical number to be sung in a classy piano bar with a steamy singer and Bennett does it justice. "Beulah's Boogie" does just that, make you want to boogie. "Bill Bailey" gives a fable on a break up but from the feminine outlook with lines like, "Amid that rainy evening, I threw you out with nothing but a fine tooth comb." The next track, "It Might As Well Be Spring," one could waltz to with no problem. In the end, Lionel Hampton featuring Sylvia Bennett's "There Will Never Be Another You," is a time traveling adventure back to the golden oldie days of music.
