Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr., also known as the rapper “T.I.,” has been recently released from an 11-month prison sentence. He has jumped right back into the music scene as if the time he spent in a federal prison was just a minor speed bump on his path to success.
After serving his sentence and some time in a halfway house, T.I. has released a new single called “I’m Flexin,’” featuring Big K.R.I.T, who has opened for artists such as Wiz Khalifa.
I must say that I have a major amount of respect for any artist this dedicated to their music. To release a new single immediately after prison is a phenomenal and exemplary display of devotion to the music business.
In the song, K.R.I.T. masters the single’s chorus while T.I. asserts that he is finally back, and he isn’t going anywhere soon…unless he gets busted again.
T.I. force-feeds us three powerful verses of his compelling and unmistakable rap style along with K.R.I.T., who complements the chorus and adds an additional verse.
All in all, the song was better than I expected it to be. Considering T.I. was in prison for the better part of a year, it was put together well. However, the tune does not stick in my head. I am not drawn to it. It could just be my musical tastes, but there’s nothing that keeps me wanting more.
