The Village adds another score from James Newton Howard, composer of "The Sixth Sense," to M. Night Shyamalan's series of films. This score is a welcome addition and possibly the best of the batch. Each score for Shyamalan from Howard gets better. This is a nice score that contains a beautiful violin solo (performed by Hilary Hahn) as it's thematic center. Completing another side of the score is the intense music for the secrets that lie outside of the woods. The violin becomes a part of the texture in some ominous chords in "Bad Color." The score's biggest strength is the wonderful string writing and some of Howard's best to date.
