The mysterious Llwellyn’s new-age ambient album, inspired by the worlds most famous wizard and Arthurian legend , “Walking With Merlyn” is nothing short of a mystical medieval experience.
The new album contains seven tracks, each ranging in length from anywhere between five and ten minutes, which can be listened to on several planes.
The relaxing, magical and whimsical mental atmosphere the music places you in is the perfect backdrop for meditational listening., if that’s you’re bag. At the same time, one cannot help but to imagine themselves on the journeys outlined by the Merlonesque melodies with titles like “Merlyn’s Cave,” “Gateway to the Otherworld” and “Magick of Trees.”
Then again, when I listen to these songs I cannot help but to feel that it would fit best within the confides of Christopher Lloyd’s classic 90’s flick The Pagemaster, or perhaps in a crystal cave level of a video game, ,maybe even as the personal soundtrack to some sort of introspective psychedelically fueled nighttime journey through the woods.
In any case one has little choice but to find some sort of relaxation or mental stimulation while listening to these instrumentals. Llwellyn’s use of various instruments as well as sounds found in nature such as creeks, wind, crickets and birds all provide for some very mellowing yet mysterious trance induced times ahead which you may share with the top dog wood dwelling wizard, Merlyn
