Into the West

Pilot Speed has done a phenomenal job in their second U.S. release, "Into the West." The album has already been released in Canada under the title, "Sell Control for Life Speed" and is being re-released in the U.S. under the new name.

The album starts off with a slow, methodical song, "Knife-Gray Sea" that can cause anybody to feel depressed by just listening to it. However, it doesn't make you feel depressed to the point you don't want to listen to the album any longer, but that feeling of depression we all experience at bad points in our life. The song also uses a choir in the background, which gives the song a particularly haunting feel that works extremely well.

However, the band does not keep you down for long as the album picks up in speed and mood. The next songs have a definitely more alternative feel, but retain the lyrical prowess.

I hope "Into the West" is able to achieve some critical and commercial success in the U.S., as it is a spectacular album that tells wonderful stories with great melodies.
