In "What Doesn't Kill You," every scene from start to finish is filled with action and drama. The movie opens with three men robbing an armored car. The rest of the movie is a flashback that follows Paulie and his childhood friend Brian as they grow up together in South Boston. These two men are anything but good guys: they are gangsters and Brian is a drug addict who basically abandons his wife and two young boys.
Yet, when something horrible happens, it leads Brian to want to change and become sober and a better father. Towards the end of the movie, we flashback to the armored car robbery plan. At this point, Brian is unsure whether or not he wants to go through with it. Without spoiling the movie, I will leave you wondering: Will Brian go through with the crime? After all he did tell his wife, "I am who I am."
"What Doesn't Kill You" stars Mark Ruffalo, Ehtan Hawke and Amanda Peet.
