The phrase "unlike anything you've ever heard before" is used to describe artists so often that it could almost be its own category. However, Jorane really is different. Not different some forced, trying-to-prove-something way, but different in that she uses her gifts as both a cellist and a vocalist to create something new and wonderful. The You and the Now is this French Canadian's first English album. Instead of giving us lame translations of French lyrics, Jorane teamed up with songwriters Lisa Germano, Simon Wilcox and Shira Myrow to produce thoughtful tracks, which will surely resonate with listeners. Notable songs include the soft and edgy "Stay" and the gripping, powerful declaration, "I Feel Love."
