Zach's Alligator

A little toy keychain becomes a real life alligator.

Zach's Alligator, by Shirley Mozelle, is a fun and highly imaginative story. Mozelle writes the story of a little boy named Zach who receives a gift from his uncle in the mail. Zach's present happens to be a tiny toy alligator the size of a keychain. But when Zach washes his toy, it becomes a live, full-sized alligator! And that's when the real adventure occurs.

The alligator, Bridget is her name, is quickly befriended by Zach as they continue their day together. Zach entertains Bridget and they explore together. Bridget is quite lively, hungry, eating almost everything, does cartwheels, wrestles with the garden hose, even goes onto a merry-go-round. Zach shows off Bridget to everyone who can hardly believe themselves. But as the end of the day draw nears, Bridget begins to shrink until she is back to the size of a keychain. Zach promises to water her again tomorrow, signifying more adventures to come.

Zach's Alligator tempts readers to go out and buy their own mini alligator and see if they'll get as lucky as Zach did with Bridget. The story is fun and delightful and bursting with imagination. The colorful illustrations help bring the story to life. Readers will certainly have fun with Zach and Bridget the whole way through.
