Met Radar While He Was Having Dinner
When I was a kid, about 9 years old, I met the actor who played Radar on "M.A.S.H." Like most of the kids who grew up in the 70s, I was totally into watching "M.A.S.H." It was a regular family event. So, I was thrilled when we spotted him at the Turtle Creek country club in San Antonio, Texas, having dinner. My father went over to ask him to autograph a napkin for me since I was such a fan. I wish I could say he impressed me but he didn't. He refused to sign his autograph and then admonished my father for even asking such a thing. He claimed we disturbed him. I was so shocked at his anger and temper with us, considering the character he plays on TV is such a sweet, mild-mannered guy. I never really got over that and, to this day, when "M.A.S.H." comes on in reruns, I turn on it off.
