A Boston Encounter in New Hampshire
The woman who poses as a secret shopper to catch shoplifters at this Wal-Mart came up to my kiosk and asked "Do you know who that was that just walked by?" I said "No, who was it?" She told me it was Brad Delph from the band Boston and that he comes in this Wal-Mart all the time because he lives nearby. I pretty much believed her for the most part but having never met any celebrity here in Noncelebrityville, N.H., I just had to go see for myself. I left the kiosk with pen and paper in hand in case it was the real guy so I could snag an autograph. I managed to catch up with him just as he was leaving the store. The first thing I said to him (like an idiot) was "are you in a band?" He laughed and said yes and went on to tell me about an upcoming show in July. (this was about 8 years ago) He was cool enough to give me his autograph and chatted with me for a few minutes before I said I should be getting back to work. Very cool and friendly guy. Also must be pretty private to be living in rural Plaistow, N.H. But not too snobby to be shopping at his local Wal-Mart.
