Making the College Circuit
Before Jay became Johnny's successor, he did his comedy act at colleges and universities across the country. I used to attend SUNY Albany in Albany, N.Y., and had the privilege of photographing him during his stand-up routine. He was great - hilarious, quick witted, and a true talent.
During his routine, he addressed a question to me, something about what kind of animal did I own. I told him a cat, and he made a joke out of it - one that I don't remember but, of course, he was funny, and I liked that he singled me out and asked me a question. I still have all my negatives of him during the show and many prints - all black and whites. I've often thought of sending him a few pictures; I think he would enjoy them, especially since he looks much younger in them and had more hair.
