Vince Gill

What's a Photo's Worth
I had the good luck to met Vince Gill after a concert in Augusta, Ga. However, my luck with photography was not so good. I had a new camera that I failed to use correctly and the photos in which Mr. Gill posed with my family and I did not turn out. This was especially upsetting as my grandmother was the biggest Vince Gill fan ever and she thought we were pulling her leg when we told her we met him. When the photos did not turn out we caught a lot of ribbing about it. This was what we thought was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and we were devasted to say the least. Three weeks later another country music concert was being held and the day of the concert it was announced that Vince Gill would be the opening act for this concert. My mother and I decided to go. We got to the box office and purchased tickets 20 minutes before the show started. We ended up with fourth row seats. We could not believe our luck. We left the show about 15 mintutes early and were reminiscing about our previous experience when my mother decided that Mr. Gill might once again be outside siging autographs. We went to the parking lot where the tour buses were and did not see anyone. My mother went to one of the buses and knocked on the door. Apparently we were under a lucky star or something because Vince Gill was sitting at the table of the bus she chose with his shirt off talking to his fiddle player. My mother walked right on in and started telling him about our photos not turning out and asked if he would please let us try again. He said sure but that he needed to grab a shirt and he would be right out. After a few minutes Mr. Gill came out to pose. He of course acted like he did not believe our story about meeting him a few weeks earlier. My mother was taking the photo and she was standing in the road in the parking lot. Mr. Gill and I both noticed a car approaching her and Mr. Gill said ma'am there's a car coming. My mother was concentrating so hard on getting eveything just right with the camera that she did not hear him. He said it again and she still did not move. I said mom there's a car coming. She still did not move. She looked up at me and Mr. Gill and then looked to her right just in time to see the car barreling down on her. She took the picture and then jumped out of the way. Mr. Gill said he thought she was going to get run over. She said she really wanted her daughter to get this photo with him and that she was not moving until she got it. We thanked him for his time and began to walk off and he asked my mom if she wanted a picture too. She said no she just wanted to get her daughter one. I am sure he thought she was insane and I am pleased to say my mother did an excellent job and the photo turned out great.
