Olivia Newton-John

Tough Marine Falls Flat over Olivia

Late in 1978, filled with pride at my recent promotion to Sergeant and dressed in my finest Class A uniform to impress the ladies, I was boarding a plane in St. Louis to go overseas. As I was walking through "first class" to my seat in "tourist", I spied none other than the beautiful, young, Olivia Newton-John seated on the left. I put on my best rakish-grin and gave her a wink. Her answering smile was so blinding that I promptly tripped and fell flat on my face in the aisle beside her!! (Talk about deflating an ego quickly)

I couldn't even look her in the eye as she helped me to my feet, asking if I was OK. I mumbled a "yeah" and practically ran to the back of the plane!
