Getting yogurt with the family
I went to a little frozen yogurt shop called Malibu Frozen Yogurt with about 20 other freshman from Pepperdine. While I was standing in line I turned around and saw this adorable little boy with curly hair and a little girl who was equally as cute. I looked back again to see their father walk up with his wife. Lo and behold, it was Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson! I had to do a doubletake to make sure it was him. I whispered to my friend in front of me, "Lindsay, Tom Hanks is right behind me!" She looked and confirmed that it was him. It was weird to be standing in line and hear his voice behind me because his voice is so distinctive. But, because we were such a large group and he was there with his wife and kids, we decided it was better to let him enjoy his frozen yogurt in peace. So, naturally, we gawked at them from outside while eating our own yogurt at an incredibly slow pace. When he finally decided to leave, one of the guys I was with approached him and said. "Excuse me Mr. Hanks, can I shake your hand?" Tom Hanks was very cool and said, "Of course." Then he left his hand out there for me to shake as well since I was standing right there and I jumped at the opportunity. Then, to the entire group, he said,-with a smile and a slight chuckle- "what are you kids doing here so late? You need to go back to school and study hard. Education is important!" Then he left with his family. As soon as they were out of earshot, or maybe even before, almost everyone pulled out their phones and started calling everyone they knew to tell them about the experience. The real kicker is that Michael Chicless also happened to be there on the same night but hardly anyone noticed because he was overshadowed. Even he was excited to meet Tom Hanks!
