Goldie Hawn

Goldies Moment

I was working for a major airline in Denver, Colo., in 1985, when this man and woman stepped into my first class line. During the 1980s, most first class customers dressed the part and were almost always were wearing a suit. Goldie and Kurt stepped into my line and they were in black leather and T-shirts and each had on a pair of sunglasses. You would have never guessed in a million years who they were. I am embarrassed to say that I just knew these two people were not in first class, so when they finally made their way to the front of the line I looked at their ticket and was just about to say these tickets are not first class when I noticed the name "Goldie Hawn" on the ticket and, at that moment, Goldie stated they would like to upgrade to first class. Back in those days we almost always upgraded celeb's at no charge (probably one of the problems with the 80s). I told Goldie I would give her a complimentary upgrade, but informed her that Kurt Russell would have to buy up to the first class cabin. She gently took my hand and said "Thank You." I didn't have a clue that Kurt was a handsome hunk and famous too. I guess Goldie really enjoyed that moment. When they walked off all of my co-workers laughed at me because I didn't know who Kurt Russell was.
