All The Right Moves (and a gentleman too!!)
Years ago a movie was being filmed in my hometown. That movie was named All The Right Moves and it had a very young, unknown actor in the leading role named Tom Cruise. They filmed the big football game scene in the Point Stadium in downtown Johnstown, PA and invited all of Johnstown to the filming. I was young also (13, I think), I BEGGED my parents to let me go with my friends (not cool to go with the folks). Where I lived it was not far from the stadium, so we walked. Well the night went on a little later than we expected, but had a good time. When the filming was over, all the good people of Johnstown were standing out front, waiting for the "stars" to come out for autographs. My friends and I were too worried about being in trouble for being out late on a school night, so we just left. We walked out of the back of the stadium and there sitting in the back of an old, junky pick-up truck was Tom Cruise. My friend who was bolder than I at the time, walked over and said hi. He started talking to her and then seeing that he's just a regular person, my other friend and I walked over too. He was very polite...gave us each an autograph and we talked for about 10 minutes. He asked us how we were getting home and when we said that we were walking, he became very concerned, telling us to please be careful walking home so late. He then gave each of us a friendly hug and said "thank you" for showing up for the filming. My friends and I talked about it for weeks after and laughed at all those people standing out front of the stadium waiting for him, when he was right there...in the back!!
