Petted her horse's nose
In the 1960 Rose Parade, I met Doris Day, who was appearing as Calamity Jane. I was in a marching band (The Robin Hood Band) and she was lined up to follow us. She was going to ride a horse, which was so quiet and well behaved that he (a gelding) let us all pet his nose.
