Dustin Hoffman
In I believe it was 1977 (whatever the year he won the Oscar,) I went to see Richard Gere and David Dukes in the Broadway drama, "Bent." The seats were great, third row center. As I was sitting down, I noticed a line of women in the aisle leading to the man seated in front of me. After a moment, I realized that it was Dustin Hoffman, and all these women were getting his autograph. I tapped Mr. Hoffman on the shoulder, and when he turned around, I said, "Excuse me Mr. Hoffman, I don't want your autograph, I just wanted to congratulate you for 'Kramer vs. Kramer.' I haven't seen it yet, but I wanted you to know that I thought it was about time. They really screwed you on 'Midnight Cowboy.'" He laughed and said to his friend, "I Like this guy." I then told him to enjoy the show. At intermission he came up to me in the lobby and asked me how I liked the show. We talked about the fact that both actors were doing a great job, and when I was leaving the theatre, he made a point to wave and wish me good luck.
