I did magic for Steven Tyler and Aerosmith.
I was the Camel Cigarette Magician at the Alpine Valley Music Theater. I worked in the Camel Casbah if you know what that is. It’s a promotional deal put on at concerts. I was on a break and was dressed like Aladdin. I was walking to where I work, but I had to go through the back stage area. I did not realize at the time the members of Aerosmith were in their dressing room and, right as I walk past their door, they all started to come out, following each other.
Steven Tyler sees me and says, “Aladdin, What’s this?” I tried to explain-- quickly because they were headed out on stage-- that I am a magician. When I said magic, he says, “Oh yeah, do a trick.” Weirdly enough, I had a deck of cards in my hand, so I just held up a playing card and made it disappear. I did the trick well, and Tyler looked back at the rest of his clan and said, "He's good," and keeps right on walking. They all signaled good trick with thumbs up and walked on stage. I was the one who was really amazed. My wife was pissed, as Aerosmith is her favorite band.
