Never lie about being sick!
When I took the job at a Tulsa TV station, I joked with all of my family that the only reason I moved there was in the hopes of some day meeting Garth Brooks. I worked there about six months before taking another job closer to my family. The week before my last day on the job I decided to use up some of my sick leave and called in, looking forward to a day of R&R. When I returned to work the next day, I discovered, to my horror, that Garth Brooks had been there the day before doing a "top secret" interview that had been scheduled weeks in advance.
While everyone in my office was having pictures taken with Garth, I was sitting at home playing sick. I'll never call in sick to a job again!
