She was nervous
I attended a juvenile law workshop where Barbara Bush was the guest speaker. I was right on the front row, so I could see that she was very nervous. She was tapping her foot, and you could tell it was a canned speech, because even though we were in Tulsa, she slipped up and said, "I'm so glad to be in Phoenix -- uh, I mean, Tulsa -- today." She was looking at index cards, too.
