This incident occurred when I was obtaining my Master's degree at St. Louis University, back in 1989. Some girlfriends and I were tired from the riggers of school work, so we decided to go out and party. We went to downtown St. Louis, to hear some good music and dance. It was about 11 pm when things started to really get going. I was left at the bar while they were dancing with some guys they had met. This guy walks over with some other guys and he asked me to dance. Now, I am 5'10" and at the time nervous about my height. This guy was shorter than me so I told him "No thank you." He looked at me and said "are you sure? It is a chance of a lifetime." He bought me a drink and I politely said no thank you. Then he said "don't you know who I am?" I said yes I do and I don't want to dance with someone so rude and cocky. I really did not know who it was until the next day and it was in the news paper that he had frequented some local bars in the area. I was still proud of my response to him. I thought he was rude and cocky and full of himself.
