So Near, Yet So Far Away
I have always been a huge David Bowie fan since the beginning of his career. Over twenty years ago I attended an Iggy Pop concert at a small venue in Manhattan. I was very excited because I knew that Iggy and Bowie were close friends, having recorded albums together and toured together as well. I thought maybe I would spot my idol and perhaps get an autograph. No such luck!
However, the next day at work a co-worker took me aside, all excited, she said, "Wow you actually got to meet your idol, David Bowie!"
I told her, "You must have been drunk!"
She said "No! My boyfried and I were both stone cold sober. You were standing RIGHT NEXT TO BOWIE!!"

I guess I'm the one that must have been drunk! I knew she was right because I heard the same thing from other people. I was crushed.
Anyway, I learned my lesson. Stay somewhat sober and keep my eyes open!
