I thought he was a friend of my parents'.
I walked out of the elevator on my lunch break and a man whose face I knew but name I could not place was standing there, waiting to get into the elevator. I gave him a big warm "Hi!" because I thought he was a friend of my parents. With a bit less enthusiasm he returned the greeting and stepped into the elevator. I said to my coworker, "That guy looked really familiar, I know him from somewhere. I think he goes to my synagogue." My coworker replied, "That's Dan Rather you idiot." He looked different in person.
