I was at his first convention
I met Karl Urban before he became the up-and-coming star he currently is. I met him at his first convention in September 1997. As a New Zealander, he was still fairly naive about celebrity and fans. He was a bit overwhelmed at the idea that people would want to meet him. He was as excited to be there as the fans were. It was a fantastic experience, and I feel privileged to have known him before he got used to the limelight.
