Met Dustin Hoffman at a matinee play in NYC.
In 1997, at a matinee performance of Bring In The Noise, Bring In The Funk, in NYC, my friends and I arrived at the theater to find a man and his young son sitting in our seats! When I showed the man my ticket stub, with the usher in tow, the man asked if I would you like them to move. I said yes, to allow my friends and I to sit together. They moved, and as they were doing so one of my friends asked me if I knew who that was. I said it was a guy and a kid in our seats.
When I looked closer it was Dustin Hoffman and one of his sons. It turns out they had the seats in the row directly behind us. Both were very nice and we exchanged positive comments about the show and how enjoyable it was to spend quality time with our children whenever possible. At one point I leaned back and told his son that, in my opinion, his father was the best actor that I have ever seen. This is the truth!
During intermission Dustin went to get some refreshments and the people in the row in front of us thought that by the way we were talking we were his friends. I told them no we just met and people are people. He is just a guy taking his son to a show. As an added bonus, 4 rows behind us was Angela Bassett! No one really bothered either for their autographs. After the show, which was great, someone on stage pointed Dustin out and sent someone else to invite him and his son backstage to meet the cast. I shook his hand and wished both he and his son well and that was that. As far as I can tell, he is a regular guy.
