Met Adam Sandler while filming and he's the best!!!!
I was in JFK with my in-laws and daughter four years ago waiting on a Flight to Peru. Big Daddy was in overdrive on HBO and he (Adam Sandler) was filming Punch Drunk love at a Duty Free Shop in the Airport. Mid-filming he stopped and walked over the barricade line where my daughter Chyanne was standing still in her parochial school uniform gazing at him saying,"Mommy mommy look its big daddy".
With a bag of McDonald's French fries in hand he told her she was the most beautiful little girl he'd ever met. He asked her what her name was, he offered her marriage and wanted to know if she had any boyfriends that he should be aware of. He wanted to know where she went to school, if she liked his movies all the while he’s stopped the taping -- the film crew were looking at him as if he'd gone mad. Whatever, the consequences he made her day and her whole life.
She has not stopped talking about meeting him since -- she even told him she was never going to wash her hand since he'd shook her hand and hugged her - he was the sweetest most normal person and he made her feel so special (he even impressed my 80 year old in-laws with his kindness). I have a lot of respect for him. He talked to her about school and asked her if she wanted to be in movies, asked her about her aspirations- she talked about being a fashion designer with him. She's never been so excited about a celebrity before - this past April we went to Hollywood (Los Feliz area) to visit my friend who works for DreamWorks.
My daughter is 11 now but she asked me on the plane ride over "mommy can we go visit Adam?" like we were good friends. It’s nice to know that celebrities like him care about the audiences that watch them - and understand the comfort they give and that for the children that watch them - they really do become part of their lives - Kudos to Adam.
