Jay North when he played Dennis the Menace
Just before I met up with Mr. North, I lost my leg at a racetrack when a stock car lost control and careened into the audience. That happened in the late months of 1963, so I was home for just a couple of days before I met him. I was about 12 years old, around 1964 or ’65. He came and visited our school and played baseball with us. I was on first base when he was pitched to. As he rounded first base, he shook our hands.
