Dottie West

I helped Dottie West when she was crying

I used to live in Nashville and worked at Parthenon Pavilion. Since Park View Hospital (its name back then) was connected to Parthenon, we usually went over there for lunch and to the gift shop. One day I walked over to get some gum and Dottie West was standing at the flower vending machines crying because she got her money stuck in the machines. She was trying to get flowers for her brother, who was in the hospital and dying of cancer. I offered to help Dottie get the flowers. She talked to me a little while and said her brother was very ill. She thanked me and gave me her autograph. She was very sweet and thanked me for helping her that day. I will always remember that! This happened in 1989. I will always have a sweet memory of Dottie.
