Robert Redford at the potty
While a young photographer on assignment covering an early space shuttle launch for a local paper, I had been photographing actor Robert Redford at the NASA press site while he was being interviewed on ABC-TV. Right after his interview on TV ended, one of the ABC interns (a cute girl of course) grabbed me and BEGGED me to take a photo of her and Redford together. Trying to be a nice guy, I told her OK and went after Mr. Redford who by this time was walking alone quickly down a narrow hallway inside the press center’s trailer. I was not paying attention to where he was headed and was behind him by only a few seconds when I went through the open doorway and realized he was standing at a urinal; I backed out of the room embarrassed. I could have had a fun shot if I had been paparazzi versus a real newspaper photographer, but my mama taught me better than that! A few minutes later, he came out and I asked him to pose with the gal and all was good.
