A hug from Celine
It had been my dream for over eight years to even SEE Celine Dion in concert. Even the back row. I didn't care, just as long as I was in the same room as my idol. In May 2004, my dream came true when a friend invited me to Las Vegas (where Celine performs nightly). I was so excited! I planned for months. I bought my ticket over four months in advance - spending $250 for a 3rd row seat. A few weeks before flying to Las Vegas, I got a phone call notifying me that Celine had sprained her neck and the show would be cancelled. I was devastated. I bought a 7th row ticket for a show later that week - not even knowing if that show would get cancelled as well. While in Vegas, I called the box office at Caesars Palace every night to see if she was still performing that night (and racked up a huge cell phone bill in the process). While calling the box office, I also checked to see if there were any good seats available for the day following the concert for which I had tickets. Every night I was told the same thing - seats very far away. One night, however, I called and was told that there was one front row ticket available. I bought it immediately. I didn't have $250 more, but I didn't care...I couldn't pass it up! I attended both concerts - shows on back-to-back nights - and both were great. The second show was the front row night. I had front row, center tickets. What could be greater than that to a fan? I was about to find out. At the end of the show, Celine walked down the stairs and gave me a rose and a hug. Me! It was the most amazing experience of my life. I wasn't even sure that I would see Celine on that trip, and I ended up getting a hug from her. I couldn't ask for more.
