My friends and I were eating dinner at an Italian restaurant in Indianapolis when he was on the campaign trail. He came over and chatted about his prom, and wanted to know what we thought were the three greatest challenges facing America. He listened very carefully to the four of us. Six weeks later he dies. He has always been my greatest hero. I still have the prom booklet he signed for me.
