Toll Road Misdirection
In the summer of 1977, I was working as a toll attendant on the Indiana Toll Road at its junction with the Chicago Skyway. A beautiful Mercedes pulled up off to the side, and a well-dressed gentleman got out and asked me for directions to a location near Chicago. I realized I was talking to none other than Muhammad Ali. I gave him instructions to the location, and he thanked me and drove away. It was only about ten minutes later that I realized that in my excitement, I had given him the wrong directions! Please give Mr. Ali my apologies, thirty years too late.
