My brush with fame, if that's what it's called, happened one day in 1959 -- my freshman year at Inglewood H.S., Inglewood, Calif. Lee was a snotty little twerp driving a new Corvette and impressing his motley crew by throwing spit wads at passing cars that were being driven by the moms of other students. What student had a car in those days but Lee?
I remember it well. THWACK! The spit wad hit our back window. "What the...?" said my mom. I just snickered and slid down in my seat, thrilled to be noticed (so I thought)by the famous hero of my favorite TV show "Rin Tin Tin." Actually, the dog was my favorite character, but..you know I was a dumb girl of 13 and he was a guy.
