Weird Al is a jerk.
It must have been around 1985 or 1986 (am I showing my age?), Weird Al was just getting famous, and I saw him at a club in L.A. The music was blaring, and I thought to myself, "Hey, I should ask him to dance. I could have a story to tell my kids when they get older." Well, I got a story to tell them alright, but it wasn't a positive one.
I mustered up all the courage I had, and walked up to him. I said hello, and asked him if he'd dance with me. He gave me a look like I had cancer, AIDS and the bubonic plague all rolled into one and said a very disgusted, "No."
If it had just been a casual dismissal, a nice "No, thank you though," or something like that, that would've been one thing, but the way he said it made me feel like crap. Thanks a lot Weird Al. you gave me a great story to tell my kids, namely that you're a jerk.
