TOO SHY TO SAY HI
Years ago, just before closing time at the mall when all was quiet and most shoppers had gone home, I looked up from a cute sweater I was thinking of buying. Outside the store, looking at the display, was someone so familiar to me from rock concerts and cd covers. It was Bruce Springsteen, who lives in our county. Instead of throwing down the sweater and dashing out to meet him, I froze. He walked away. I must have seemed catatonic because the saleslady coughed and said, "Um...are you okay?" I nodded and felt tears welling in my eyes. My chance to meet someone I truly admired and I was too shy! I vowed after that to never let a once-in-a-lifetime chance pass me by.
