Last person we expected to come from backstage Broadway play
My pal Gary is an autograph collector. We had seen "Rock & Roll," and he decided that he would stay to try and get some autographs even though it was FREEZING and the stars not really "big" names. Phenomenal actors in good play, but Rufus Sewell, Brian Cox and Sinead Cusack aren't exactly household names.
After waiting about 30-45 minutes and getting those three signatures, Gary's eyes got huge and he muttered under his breath, "You are not going to believe this," as Mr. and Mrs. Springsteen headed towards him and into waiting car. He managed to waylay them and get their autographs and a big smile from both. He turned to me like a kid at Christmas (or, in his case, Hanukkah). In fact, I don't know which I enjoyed more -- the surprise of one of my favorite musicians and his wife right in front of me or Gary's face of triumph and joy.
