It was the time when the country was in an uproar over the dictatorship of Marcos over several years. Filipinos from all walks of life were rallying for the cause of democracy. I was there too, a bit overwhelmed with the crowds, but heart brimming with excitement. Our champion at the time was TIME Woman of the Year Corazon Aquino, who despite just being a "plain housewife," took of the reigns of leadership for the clamoring populace. I didn't realize it, but I found myself beside a vehicle and no one else was looking at it. Slowly the windows rolled down and there she was, smiling at me, barely a meter away. I was speechless! When the people realized it was "Cory," they started to close in on the scene and she waved away as well as her vehicle.
