My big chance with Martin Sheen
One Friday evening I was teaching a yoga class in St Louis Park, Minnesota when someone came running in and said Martin Sheen was on the basketball court...alone, and dashed back to invite him to our yoga class. He apparently politely deferred, which broke my heart since I had had a mad thing for him since he was in the movie Apocalypse Now (yes, I'm around the same age). After class, when I was leaving the club, tornado sirens began blaring and I was ushered into a small room with about five other people, one of whom was the man himself! I was thrilled and wondered if I should call or write my husband to tell him I was leaving him for Martin Sheen. There was a television in the room and we were all staring at it, watching the orange and red radar and listening to the weatherman tell us where the tornado was touching down. I of course paid little attention, so focused was I on my dreams of spending hours locked in the room with Martin Sheen which would lead to his realization that I was the girl for him and a passionate affair would be realized, when I realized he was speaking...to me! He had apparently been listening to the weatherman and looked at me and questioned, "Golden Valley, is that far from here?" and I beamed back at him stupidly and stuttered, "Uhhhhnnnnn hunnn uhhh...sort-of." That was my chance at the brass ring...Needless to say, my marriage was safe!
