Met Ms. Hepburn at the Doctor's Office
Our first son was born in 1989 and after a few months we noticed his feet were turned inward a bit. Went to an orthopedic group at NYU Medical Ctr. where he was born. After an exam, we were told his condition was no big deal, simply put the opposite shoe on each foot to help them straighten. On the way out of the exam room we pass an older woman, well-dressed and wearing sun-glasses. Immediately, I had a feeling I knew this person (celebrity radar went on). Then, I heard that voice, one of the more recognizable voices in all of celebritydom. Ms. Hepburn had been speaking with the office receptionist who left to get something for her when I went over to say hello. She couldn't have been more open and friendly to us. She asked about our relatively new-born child and why he was here. She wished us luck and best wishes on our new parenthood. She was refreshingly down to earth with no hint of prima donna evident. I think she told us she was there for some minor ankle injury. For me, a real movie fan, it was simply a pleasure to meet, arguably, the finest actress of all time, and, to meet her in such a relaxed and "normal" situation.
