Penn Station - Flirting with Burt
I was a teenager skipping school and hanging out in NYC on a rainy day back in the '80s. When it was time to go home, I went to Penn Station to catch a train and that's when I saw Burt filming on location. He was completing an escalator scene where he was running down the escalator, pushing aside people, and it was chaotic. People were everywhere and I knew I had no chance of meeting him, so I left. I made my way past the crowd to another section of Penn Station that was practically deserted and who appeared walking my way with his posse? Burt Reynolds himself. I approached him and asked for an autograph. Though I felt like a dork, he was very kind and made small talk with me, even throwing in a wink. At age 14, he made me wobbly in the knees and I knew then why millions of women (and men) loved him. He's very tall, probably around 6'3" with a dark complexion and black hair. I'll never forget how nice he was and I was grateful he was humble and unpretentious.
