Big Mouthed Friend Foiled the Fun
I was at dinner with two friends in Chinatown, NYC one evening. It was a small-ish restaurant, and all of the tables from the left side of the room were grouped together for a very large party. We were the only other table occupied in the restaurant, sitting against the right-side wall. From where I sat facing the door, I could see that Robert de Niro had entered the restaurant, so I nudged my friend who could also see him. Rather than maintain some level of discretion, my friend shouted to the one sitting across from us, "Oh my God, I think that's Robert de Niro!" He, and his entire party gave us the spectrum of pitying and annoyed looks, as we were obviously not even a little bit cool. But he made his way to the group and gave a birthday gift to his Sister-In-Law (that's a guess by the looks of the crew that were there).
