I shook hands with our newly elected U.S. president!
Me and my friend went to one of the Obama rallies in town during his campaigning. My friend works for a non-profit and used her connects to get us right on the field where he was speaking. While we were waiting we got the heads up on where he was coming out from, so we left our spots and went over and stood by the barricade that was set up. More waiting and finally Obama came out, he walked along the barricade shaking hands with everyone and when he got to me he took my hand and gave me a warm smile. At that point however people were swarming over and his guards and secret service started telling everyone to move back, but I was extremely happy and went back to my spot to listen to his speech (which was wonderful). I still can't believe it, I shook hands with the newly elected President of the United States. What a story to tell the kids!
