In speaking with the project director Ramon Abascol, he summed up that after the many preliminary studies, Playa Mujeres would be a certain success because it had all the key ingredients for a deluxe, exclusive resort. First he said, it is a destination easy to get to, with a major international airport nearby. Secondly, it is to be an exclusive site that is also easy to get to being only 3 miles north of Cancun. Thirdly, Playa Mujeres is focusing and highlighting the growing popularity of golf by having golf superstar Greg Norman design two ecologically friendly 18-hole courses. Fourth, the area has a natural beauty of Isla Mujeres' beaches, sand, flora and coral. Fifth, Playa Mujeres has the full interest and commitment of the landowner Hendricks Hankes and the developer, Horst Schultze, CEO of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. Together, they have been described as men who are great dreamers and are resolutely focused on the project.
