The circus gets updated to the 21st century in this review of Cirque Du Soleil.
Cirque Du Soleil advances the traditional concept of the circus with the production qualities of modern day theater. While a traditional circus has animals, lion tamers, side shows and other aspects that make the big top wonderful, Cirque Du Soleil has only acrobats, clowns and other human performers. What makes it stand out is its elaborate production.

Performers in the German Wheel

This production of Cirque Du Soleil was, "La Nouba". The show starts with two clowns walking through the audience, interacting with people and occupying your time until a big clock on a screen on stage appears and begins counting down to the start of the show.
From there, the show is a continual barrage of stimuli. Every aspect of the show is choreographed beautifully. The costumes and lighting were well chosen. While the trapeze artists were performing, complimenting live music was heard which was composed exclusively for the show. At the same time, various other performers were part of the scene, but did not take away from the performance.
Every aspect of the performance was designed to work together as a perfect orchestration. From the lighting, to timing... the music, the costumes, not one aspect was overlooked.
One of the highlights had to be the finale where every character was on stage. The full value of the production could be felt when you realized how important it was for everybody to interact with perfect timing. It eventually becomes a visual and musical symphony and much more than the individual performers. The sum was much greater then the parts by virtue of the masterful coordination of all of the players.
Overall, I cannot single out one part as being above the rest, the entire show was spectacular.
