Las Villas de Mexico

Written by: Donald Miserandino

Finally, a builder gets it right. For us!

Since they were born, the "baby boomers" have not been treated with full economic respect. From the shortage of cloth diapers, to the explosive increase in school taxes, we have been overcharged for everything. And despite police actions, experimental vaccines, threats of atomic bombs and the draft, we are still here, still to be dealt with and still paying more for being alive. The point here is that every economic step in our lives was seen as an opportunity for somebody else and we had to pay top dollar for each product we wanted.

Now, we have reached the retirement stage and in the whole world, one company seems to have taken the time to finally figure us out. A national builder in Mexico, Homex, has designed several communities in Mexico with us in mind: reasonable prices, workable sizes, an on-site veterinarian, full fee ownership (with title insurance) and it is all... in a close-by foreign country: Mexico. Best of all, they have the history and experience to make it work. Check it out yourself on the NY Stock exchange (HXM), as well as on the Mexican Stock Exchange (HOMEX). Already a major home builder in Mexico with a presence in 33 cities in 21 states, they have expertise in environmentally sensitive construction, water use and design, while reflecting the local architecture and history.

Do you remember all those spring breaks you took in Mexico: Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, maybe Puerto Vallarta? Now, those times of relaxation and fun can become the atmosphere for those later boomer years, without losing the moth from the wallet. Homex established a tourism division that really did their homework and found out what we wanted in a retirement community. They studied and analyzed the housing needs of the oldest of the "Spring Breakers" to determine what we wanted in our boomer retirement years. They did this in both the United States and Canada!

They seem to have discovered that the present real estate crisis may be "slightly" more media driven than real economic hurt to those who would be potential buyers. Those potential buyers, for the most part, were not hit in the subprime situation and had planned for their retirement future. It has also been observed that, economically speaking, the North American Trade agreement will continue to further meld Mexico to the USA, so that Mexico is in a good position to become the premier playground for the U.S. and Canada. And Las Villas de Mexico is designed to be that playground.

The residential complexes are designed with the mind and body spirit thing, but they have included mobility, medicine, local culture and the family pet. Top of the line contemporary facilities such as the "Sunstone Beach/Social Clubs" and "Si" concierge service for entertainment and recreation, the "WhiteSand" spas for the physical and the spirit and a veterinary service to take care of the household pet who can accompany the homeowner. For those who equate Golf with retirement, the "Whole in One Program" will drive home the concept that you are really retired in a really affordable place, really! Those are the basics right up front.

Even the boomer legal conscience has been met with full fee ownership and title guarantees - first homes, second homes or vacation homes. It's a real home. The HXM company is well versed in Mexican laws and construction and how to make them work for their clients.

Ready to go, like yesterday, they can start the "proverbial" tomorrow with the on-site models ready to view shortly after and final delivery scheduled to start next year. The three basic styles are villas, townhomes and condominiums that will range from about 1,900 to 2,200 square feet and are designed to reflect each development's region in terms of the architecture, culture and even local building materials.

The start-up locations are practically household names: Cancun, Los Cabos and Riviera Nayarit. Exotic names for exotic locations and the boomer buyer will be part of it all.

Check it out for yourself on their website: LasVillasdeMexico.com and be sure to review the parent company, HXM.
