Old Orchard Beach - Part 1
Written by: Stacey Stern
If you're looking for a "family friendly" vacation with fun-filled adventures, shopping and local excursions, then look no farther than Old Orchard Beach, Maine
Actually, our vacation officially began way before we got to our destination when my 5-year-old daughter, Amanda, ran into my bedroom at 5:57am, saying "Come on, it's time to go! Get up!"
We were on the road at 7am. Destination: Old Orchard Beach, Maine. The ride was six and a half hours due to rainy weather, New York traffic, and a stop for brunch.
We arrived at 1:30 PM and checked into the Friendship Motor Inn. Our room was on the ground floor of this two-story building, overlooking the heated pool and the ocean. Each accommodation offers two rooms with a double or two beds and a sleeper sofa, two sinks, one bathroom with a shower, TV/VCR, refrigerator, microwave, and laundry facilities. Two lawn chairs sit outside the sliding patio doors, which lead to a lawn in the center of which is the heated pool. The beach is 15 feet from the motel.
After settling into our room, we decided to visit the outlet stores in Freeport, home of the only retail store for L. L. Bean. After four and a half hours of shopping, we headed back to the motel for the night.
