Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate - Part 2

Written by: Janet Pope

Something for everyone

Soon to come, will be a nine-hole par-three lighted family golf course - yet another attraction for families.

While I was not swayed by the lure of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, there are those who took advantage of the free shuttle buses that took guests to the Disney Parks.

I was swayed though, by the food and took breaks from relaxing to check out the restaurants. There are five places to eat and 24-hour room service, so I had plenty of choices. Most of the time, I ate at Croc’s for its convenience. It is a poolside casual eatery that features sandwiches, wraps and salads. I also had a great breakfast of cornflake-crusted French toast and a bowl of fresh berries at Trevi’s. However, the best meal, by far, was at Zen’s, an upscale Asian eatery. They feature "the Zen Experience," which consists of at least a dozen dishes, giving a great sampling and a massive amount of food. The food was delicious and the oriental decor in the restaurant lent itself to enhancing this special meal.

Besides attracting the golfer, the relaxing vacationer and families, the Orlando Omni at Championsgate is already luring the business clientele, looking for meeting space. With two large ballrooms and smaller rooms, there are over 70,000 square feet of meeting space available to accommodate over 2,000 people. During my spa weekend, I saw a listing of over a dozen upcoming corporate events.

All the guests I bumped into were friendly and often conversations were sparked in the pool or bar areas. Everyone seemed genuinely and enthusiastically pleased with the hotel, the staff and the facilities. A lot of compliments were shared about the décor, which is predominantly soft greens and gold, adding to an opulent, yet, soft touch. The art work is varied and striking, and the floral arrangements are unique. All of the décor adds up to an elegant, yet, comfortable environment, where I felt pampered, but not "stuffy."

The Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate truly has something for everyone - the family looking for a place away from the hubbub of the Disney mania, the lady (or gentleman) looking for a spa retreat, the golfer seeking some challenging courses and the business person in need of not only space, but an endless possibility of amenities. My experience at The Omni was wonderful and a destination I would put on my list for a return visit. With so many places to see, there are not too many places on that list so far.
